Challenge:   Take pieces from a city home & transform them to work in a beach home

Atlanta interior designer, Barclay Stone, worked with an empty-nester couple who were downsizing from a large city home into a small Cape ranch at the beach.  Before the couple moved, Barclay measured & photographed all furniture & accessories in the existing home.  Working in collaboration with the couple, the first part of the process was to identify which pieces would work in the new house floor plans.  In phase 2, floor plans were drawn for all of the main rooms in the new home.  Phase 3, Barclay selected new furniture, fabrics/wallpapers/area rugs & accessories to compliment the homeowner’s existing pieces.  

The newly designed spaces were created for an empty-nest couple who love to entertain and have family visit.  Comfortable & durable seating was a priority.  We chose a neutral base palette and accented the rooms with lots of beachy blues and nantucket reds.  Pattern and color was a key component in this makeover project and allows all of the main floor rooms to seamlessly flow & compliment each other.
